There is a sweet floral aroma along with hints of maraschino cherry and ripe raspberry. Flavors of honeysuckle and bright red fruit in abundance on the palate. This wine is light to medium body with a higher natural acidity that accentuates the bright fruit.
Carignane is a red grape that originated in Carinena, Northern Spain before making its way up to Southern France and the rest of the world. Our old-vine Carignane comes from Trimble Vineyard, a family-owned, five-acre organic certified vineyard located 2 miles North of Hopland, planted primarily in 1942. The warm days and cool nights of Inland Mendocino County are ideal for growing Carignane.
