
2014 Dolcetto
Winemaker Notes:
The nose displays notes of dark cherry, baking spice and dried plum. The mouth is filled with earthy, dark berry flavors and a dry finish.
Vineyard Notes:
Dolcetto is an Italian red grape that is believed to have originated in the Piedmont region. Dolcetto means "little sweet one". Our Dolcetto comes from Fox Hill Vineyard, a 150-acre ranch owned and managed by Lowell Stone. Located 8 miles north of the town of Hopland along the banks of the upper Russian River and sitting at 900 feet of altitude on a west-facing slope. This site provides outstanding conditions for growing this red varietal.
Harvest Date: September 2nd, 2014
Fermentation: De-stemmed and crushed to stainless steel tank. Cold soaked for 5 days to extract color and desirable phenolic compounds. fermented to dryness at 85F. Only free-run fraction transferred to barrel where it underwent malolactic fermentation.
Aging: aged for 14 months in neutral French oak
